What do Bronze Age donations, the diversity of early Christian gospels, Roman building strategies, women's orgies in antiquity, and archaeology in outer space have in common? They are all taking the stage at Heimathafen Neukölln for ten minutes each at the 7th Antiquity Slam.
he Antiquity Slam is a science slam by, from, and about the ancient studies – and once again demonstrates just how diverse and surprising research into past cultures can be. In keeping with the Berliner Antike-Kolleg's current annual theme, "Risk", this year's topics range from gaining by losing to pushing boundaries and facing unusual challenges, from risky ventures to clever strategies for keeping risks under control. And sometimes, the biggest risk is simply stepping onto a stage and presenting your research to a large audience in just ten minutes.
Taking part are:
- Sabrina Autenrieth (Prehistoric Archaeology)
- Barbara Beyer (Theology / New Testament Studies)
- Pasquale Ferrara (Ancient History)
- Birgit Nennstiel (Building Archaeology)
- Lisa Wilhelmi (Ancient Near Eastern Studies)
- Petra Wodtke (Archaeologist and Material Culture Researcher)
The 7th Antiquity Slam is heading to Heimathafen Neukölln, a venue where science slams have long found a home. Organised in cooperation with Science & Stories, the event joins Berlin's successful series of science slams. Guiding us through the evening will be Simon Hauser (medievalist, science slammer and host).
The final talk titles and full programme will be announced shortly.
