Facing the Mountain. Performing archaeological surveys in the Lebanese Mountain Range with innovative methods
The "Facing the Mountain" archaeological investigation will take place within a ca. 63 km2 area between the heritage town of Mtein and the archaeological site of Qalaat Faqra.. By implementing the usage of remote sensing, different maps, and satellite and aerial imagery, in addition to spatial analysis tools such as Least-Cost Path Analysis, a survey can take place efficiently with prior notice of where archaeological settlements and features are likely to be located. To summarize, this dissertation will portray the participation in two innovative survey projects to identify which methods are most suitable for a survey project between Mtein and Qalaat Faqra with the objective of uncovering an ancient route.
