Le forme dell’abitare in Sicilia centro-occidentale: un geodatabase dell’edilizia privata ellenistico-romana.

The project aims to create a geodatabase bringing together all available data on residential buildings in the major urban centres of central-western Sicily during the Hellenistic and Roman periods. Its objective is to establish an accessible and expandable repository for the study of domestic architecture in the region. The geodatabase will accommodate different types of evidence, including data from recent excavations and earlier archaeological investigations, as well as the results of non-invasive analyses and virtual reconstructions.
The spatial analysis of the collected evidence within a GIS environment, combined with the integration of heterogeneous datasets, will enable a more comprehensive understanding of the development of domestic architecture and urban residential areas from the early Hellenistic period to the end of the Augustan age.
