My research is centered on the section on ancient Armenia in the Geography of Strabo (XI, 14). My former experience allows me to approach an interdisciplinary research, in order to make the point on the kingdom of Greater Armenia (ca. 188 BCE – 428 CE). Presently, my main scientific concern is the redaction of a comprehensive history of the kingdom of Greater Armenia (Mec Hayk'), to be published by Princeton University Press. This book would not only make a case study of local history – still a missing item in present-day scholarship – but would also contextualise ancient Armenia within the continuum of a global history of Antiquity. The purpose of my stay in Berlin is to prepare a thorough analysis of Strabo's Armenian chapter, one of the main sources on the kingdom of Greater Armenia, giving valuable and unique information on the geography and the history of the country, and also on the geo-political setting of the country in the first half of the I century CE. The results of this research would be published as an independent paper, conceived as a 'spin-off' of the Princeton book, to be published in Daniela Dueck (Ed.), The Routledge Companion to Strabo.
