Einstein Foundation Berlin
In 2023, BerGSAS was successful in the competition for the Einstein Foundation Doctoral Programme (EFDP) title and will be able to strategically strengthen the field of digital humanities during the funding period (2024-27). Together with the German Archaeological Institute and the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, innovative training formats will be developed and implemented as integral parts of the BerGSAS curriculum. In addition, three doctoral projects will be funded with scholarships.
The Einstein Center Chronoi (2019-2025) funded several doctoral projects and enabled BerGSAS to hold events related to the centre's theme of ‘Time and the perception of time in antiquity’.
BerGSAS was awarded second place by the Einstein Foundation Berlin in 2017 as part of the competition for the Einstein Doctoral Programme Prize. The funding (2017-2019) was used to finance doctoral scholarships, guest semesters at partner universities, international conferences and workshops, and senior fellowships.
Berlin University Alliance

Research Training Group Philosophy, Science and the Sciences
During its term, the international research training group Research Training Group Philosophy, Science and the Sciences (2014-2023) was affiliated with the BerGSAS programme Ancient Philosophy and History of Ancient Science. The doctoral candidates conducted research on topics dealing with the dialogue between different forms and models of knowledge in Greek, Roman and Arabic philosophy and science. The program was interdisciplinary in nature, representing subjects such as philosophy, classical philology, Arabic studies and the history of knowledge.
Excellence Cluster 264 Topoi
As a spin-off from the Excellence Cluster 264 Topoi (2007-2019), BerGSAS was closely linked to the cluster and also served as the graduate school for all doctoral researchers in the cluster. These students received doctoral scholarships and material resources from Topoi.
