He studied classical archaeology and pre- and early history in Berlin and Rome. His current research interests include especially the use of digital possibilities (data acquisition,  3D modeling) in archaeology, history of art and history of science as well as long-term archiving and publishing of such research data. These fields of action are taken care of by Bernhard Fritsch also at the building of the research platform Edition Topoi – Collections within the area REM.
